TOASTERS
On May 4, 1988, The Today Show featured an interview with June O'Brien, an allegedly possessed toaster owner. The interview was part of a series exploring supermarket tabloids.
The video is hilarious and is even being touted on IMDB as the "greatest interview in television history." Those were the days when conspiracy theories were cute and funny, when we loved to browse news of either abductions or possessions while waiting to pay for groceries.
Fast forward to the little shop of horrors that day seven of 2021 turned out to be. Conspiracy theories have grown so big since then, feeding on human brains unchecked for so long, that the leftovers of the bodies of those prayed on were what we saw trudge up the Capitol steps on Wednesday's perturbing grand finale of lunacy.
Sam Levenson (1911–1980), an American humorist, writer, teacher, television host, and journalist, once said: "Our toaster has two settings: too soon or too late."
Our collective toast clearly was left in that toaster for wayyyyy too long this time.
It burned the house down.
