Roofless Painters Spring Painting Course is happening in Scotland from May 25 to 30, 2020. The week-long painting course welcomes painters of every experience and level of training who are looking to start, explore or develop their practice through site-specific painting workshops.

The workshops are professionally guided oil painting immersions based on observation from life at culturally and historically significant locations in Scotland. Award-winning painter Julio Panisello will provide daily opportunities for painting in natural and architectural environments.
Dates
  • Monday, May 25 to Saturday, May 30, 2020.

Location
  • Fife, Scotland. Edinburgh Airport (EDI) is the closest and most convenient airport for most of Fife.
  • In order to bring about a variety of painting strategies and results, our painting locations will have a selection of both iconic as well as unusual sites in the area, pooling from the historical, architectural, and botanical richness of Fife.

  • Daily morning painting workshops in selected locations (Monday to Friday).
  • Evening open studio sessions (Monday to Friday).
  • ALL painting materials and supplies included (we will be using oil paint and charcoal).
  • Daily set up and clean up included. 
  • Guided instruction and individualised feedback during each session.
  • A relaxed, safe, nonjudgmental, and requirement-free environment - every level welcome.
  • Opening Reception featuring selected paintings created during the course. Reception on Saturday, May 30, 6-9p,
  • All artwork will be featured in our online gallery.
Painters are responsible for traveling, transportation, accommodation, and meals.

Julio Panisello, the recipient of the Grand Prize and the Audience Choice Award in the 2016 Los Angeles Plein Air Festival, earned his BFA (cum laude) in Painting and a postgraduate degree in Pedagogy from the University of Barcelona, Catalonia. He has exhibited widely in Los Angeles and Spain including a solo exhibition with ShoeboxLA, THE LODGE, the Los Angeles Arboretum, and the main branch of the New York Public Library. He is the creator of The Havisham Hour, a multi-media, visual arts and literature project based on Charles Dickens' novel Great Expectations, Julio with a P, a collection of recorded conversations with local artists, and the founder of Roofless Painters which hosts educational painting sessions in iconic locations. Chloé Nelson is a founding member and part of the Roofless Painters team of nomadic painting pioneers. She's been opening doors and facilitating collaborations between painters and groups thirsty for new creative energy, enabling rich exchanges and establishing new, lasting connections. Jen Eldridge is an actress, writer, and producer, known for Dexter (2006), Rules of Engagement (2007) and Motherhood 101 (2019), who has gathered multiple awards and nominations for her creative work in numerous film festivals around the world.
