RUTH BADER GINSBURG
It's quite simple: this series of paintings will consist of portraits of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
But paintings are always more than the subjects they depict. We feel that using the visual language of painting to create a portrait of Ruth Bader is a way of honoring her legacy and recognizing how she transformed how we live.
Portraits are not only about resemblance. In fact, we put likeness at the end of our list of things to consider. A portrait is as much of a representation of someone as it is a reflection of the painter. So we invite you to join and take this opportunity to re-create an image of her through our own experience.
Ruth Bader took on gender discrimination, and we're all better off for it. Yes, there is a lot more that needs to be done, but this is about looking back and recognizing the distance traveled.
