My Pillow, Not the Other Guy's, by Lois Keller
Oil on cotton paper, 9"x12", 2020
Painting Series: OUR PILLOWS
The “My Pillow Guy” got dropped this in January from selling his pillows at Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohl’s, and Wayfair due to his pervasive fascistic tendencies.
With this webinar, we wanted to reclaim the universal goodness of pillows, which support us, give us comfort, and partner with us in our most intimate moments.
We let this painting subject also symbolize the beginning of a new chapter, post-reign of terror, in which hopefully we’ll have fewer nightmares and better sleep.
Pillow
By Jana Prikryl
How solitary
and resolute you look in the morning.
A stoic in your cotton sleeve.
Do you dream of walking out
rain or shine
a truffle balanced on your sternum
and passing me on the sidewalk?
Or is that a smile
because you interpret nothing
and statelessness is where you live?
How calmly you indulge my moods.
See you tonight, by the sovereign chartreuse
ceramics at the Met.
Let's hear what you'd do differently.
