Painting Series: AFGHAN HOUNDS
A signed serigraph by artist LeRoy Neiman, 1921-2012, depicting an Afghan Hound, caught our attention. Besides the limited palette, loose strokes, and the recreation of texture with minimal detail, we also enjoyed the reclining odalisque-syle pose, the solid, dark background, and single color accent.
Afghan Hounds are as strong and resilient as they are glamorous. Throughout history, artists and misfits of all stripes have cherished them. These majestic animals have seduced many with their statuesque figures and luscious fur.
We are going to paint them.
