UGLY MEN is a drawing series inspired by images of men taken by celebrated American photographer Imogen Cunningham. In the early 1930s, when Imogen’s portrait work started to attract attention, the editors of Vanity Fair assigned her to photograph Hollywood’s movie stars of the day. "I was invited to photograph Hollywood," Imogen said. "They asked me what I would like to photograph. I said, ugly men."
We got inspired by a selection of her “ugly men” portraits for this charcoal drawing series.
