Aviarium and Fenestellas, by Ruthie Danziger
9" x 12", oil on linen panel, unframed 2018
ROOFLESS AT THE MUSEUM OF JURASSIC TECHNOLOGY is a painting series created The Museum of Jurassic Technology in Culver City on October 2018.
On the first floor of the museum, off of the charming Tula Tea Room, there is an inconspicuous access to one of the most enchanting areas in the building: the Gothic-style rooftop cloister. The quaint cloister has an arcade framed by ornate trefold arches. On one corner of the cloister there is a turret-style columbarium that holds the museum's aviary. In the middle of the space there is a low marble fountain surrounded by lush plants.
We arranged the easels around the fountain in the center of the cloister and chose an architectural detail in the space to paint from life.
