On October 28th, 2018, the @newyorkermag published an article about a Reddit user looking for a place “where you post a picture of the inside of your refrigerator, and people guess how old you are or what your job is.” Ever since then, thousands of people have posted photos of their refrigerator's shelves on a Reddit subgroup called Fridge Detective, followed by comments from people trying to describe their owners.
SHELF-PORTRAIT painting series is inspired by that concept. Painters brought images from their fridges as visual reference.
