LOVED ONES: New Painting Collection + Open Call
This collection aims to be a reminder of the importance of those we hold dearest, and also a stark warning of the fragility of life. Straddling the lines of portraiture and intimate reflection, this series aspires to be both tribute and testament, a meditation on the effects of loss and devastation experienced by countless people who faced or are facing the horrors of terrorism and war. Painting a portrait is an act of memory, a memento that captures the essence of a person in their absence. In painting a loved one, we acknowledge their significance in our lives while also recognizing the unsettling reality that we may not always have the opportunity to express our feelings to them at our convenience and time of choosing. Select an image of someone who is part of your inner circle, someone whose permanent absence would create an unfillable void. Paint that person, not just as an artistic act but as an act of recognition, of love, and of memory. May each of our brushstrokes be a silent vow to never take for granted the people who bring light into our lives.
